100x100/4: Vowel Rows

Vowel rows: a sequence of different vowels on a single pitch. Timbre across all vowels remains consistent. They teach preservation of chiaroscuro through forward articulation.

Biological vowel rows: either oo-oh-ah-eh-ee (lips move then tongue). Or reverse: ee-eh-ah-oh-oo (tongue first then lips). Ring and depth remain equal across all vowels.

Oo and ee, surprisingly, most open throated vowels, with best timbral depth.

Try targeting chiaroscuro, and preserve across vowel row.

Try prefacing vowel row with “ng”, “home position” of tongue. Ng “position” freely remains in all.

Try vowel rows in C4 passaggio: preserve pharyngeal space/timbre. Vowels automatically modify (passive vowel modification).
